Simple Ways To Save When Obtaining A Mortgage

Posted by Jorja Marion On Jan - 25 - 2012 No Comments »

Everyone wants to save money when they buy something, whether scoring a deal on a new outfit or saving when obtaining a mortgage.  The process of obtaining a mortgage can be hard enough without worrying about whether you are getting the most savings or if you should look for a better deal for the mortgage.  By following some simple tips, you will increase your chances of obtaining a great deal when you apply for the mortgage.

Have Some Flexibility

The first thing that you should do to save when obtaining a mortgage is be flexible.  In many cases, items like the amount of the mortgage or the length of time given to repay the mortgage are items that the borrower does not need to be flexible about.  Being flexible on other items, such as the name of the mortgage lender or the number of points  on the mortgage, will allow the borrower to explore a greater pool of mortgage options, increasing the chance that they will get a good bargain for the mortgage.

Review Quotes From Several Different Lenders

Another way that an individual can increase their chances of saving money on their mortgage loan is to shop several different lenders before deciding which lender to use.  Different lenders can have different interest rates for the same loan, even when looking at the same credit report and credit score.  Saving a couple of percentage points on an interest rate for a mortgage can save you thousands of dollars over the length of the loan.  It is important to carefully review the information provided by the lender to ensure that there are no hidden charges or confusing issues in the mortgage agreement.

Put As Much Down As You Can

Having a significant down payment will decrease the amount of money you need to borrow through the mortgage loan.  A large down payment will also lessen the amount that you will be paying in interest over the life of the mortgage loan and provide you with home equity much more quickly.  If you intend to stay in your home for a significant period of time, you can save a lot of money by putting as much as you can down for a down payment on the home.

Hey everyone thought I would drop a quick post out today about how I almost got hit by a terrible twitter scam.  In fact I was so close to falling for this scam that all I had to basically do was hit enter on my keyboard and would have been lost forever.

It all started when I received a direct message from a particular individual I was following that mentioned that some people were spreading some horrible rumors about me on the  web and left a shortened URL for me to click on.  Below is what the message looked like.

At this point I began to get very worried that someone was spreading some awful rumors about me on the net so my first instinct was to click on the link, and thats exactly what I did falling right into their trap.  From their a page popped up that looks like the picture below.

At this point the page to me looked very normal except that they wanted me to believe that I had to log back into my twitter account again because it had timed out.  To tell

One of the benefits of owning a home is the deductions that homeowners can use when filling out their annual tax forms. While there are several tax benefits to owning your own home, some of these benefits are greatly exaggerated and some of them are simply misconceptions that are untrue. Here are some of the more common tax misconceptions and exaggerations that are out there so you can be aware of them.

Misconception #1: The interest that I pay on my mortgage provides me with a tax break.

For the majority of homeowners, mortgage interest does provide a tax break which is unavailable to renters. But in order to take advantage of this break, a homeowner must itemize their taxes. This means that the combined individual deductions are more than the standard deduction that an individual would automatically get each year.

US Dollar Jumps as Euro Weakens

Posted by Jorja Marion On Jan - 11 - 2012 No Comments »

The greenback gained on Wednesday in reaction to the weaker single currency ahead of European Central Bank meeting. Most of the analysts were expecting interest rate cuts by ECB in next meeting. Traders remained uncertain about the single currency as earlier Fitch also warned European Central Bank of a cataclysmic euro collapse.

Despite comments of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to support and provide funding for European Stability Mechanism, the single currency was unable to gain any momentum. The euro declined to 1.2705 against the US dollar on Wednesday as compared to 1.2778 on Tuesday’s late trading hours.

The dollar index DXY which measures the US dollar’s performance versus its six major rival currencies jumped to 81.313 on Wednesday as compared to 80.864 on Tuesday’s North American trading session. Among

Upstart mobile payment processing company Square has its sights set on shaking up the industry. Its iPhone-friendly card reader has been blessed with retail space in Apple stores, and it’s had no trouble securing funding for its efforts, either. Recently Square locked up more than $100 million in investment and scored a valuation of more than $1 billion.

But there have been a couple of bumps in the road for Square. A few months back, Verifone (one of its key competitors) revealed that it was able to skim credit card data using the Square reader. Verifone noted that Square’s reader didn’t bother to encrypt data it transmitted to the app itself, an oversight that Verifone said meant any reasonably skilled coder could whip up a skimming application to harvest swiped card details.
